The Tomb Of Kutai Kertanegara Sultan Royal Families

        






        There are 142 burial of King & Sultans of Kutai Kartanegara Ing Martadipura and royal families. One of the Sultan Kutai that buried here is Aji Imbut or Sultan Aji Muhammad Muslihuddin (1739-1782). Aji Imbut is known as the founder of Tenggarong city. On 28 September 1782, Aji Imbut moved the kingdom from Pemarangan to Tepian Pandan. Then, Aji Imbut replaced Tepian Pandan name as Tangga Arung, which means the “House of the King”. Later, the name of Tangga Arung was changed to Tenggarong until now. The other Sultans buried in this tomb are Sultan Aji Muhammad Sulaiman (1845 to 1899), Sultan Aji Muhammad Salehudin (1782 to 1845) and Sultan Aji Muhammad Parikesit (1920 to 1960). The Tombstones symbols indicate cultural influenced from Dayak, Bugis, Makassar, and Islam culture which are reflected by the decoration of tombstones. The Tombs is located next to Mulawarman Museum, on Jalan Diponegoro, Tenggarong, Kutai kartanegara Regency.
